FROM PAST TO PRESENT…AND BEYOND
It all began with an idea to serve and educate Laredo's Catholic youth in 1935. At the time, Mary Help of Christians School was a small foundation located on Hidalgo Street. In 1941, the growing demand of students initiated a move to an expanded location on Houston Street, where enrollment climbed to more than 600 students.
It was in 1963 that the school relocated to its current location in Laredo's Northeast Del Mar subdivision to accommodate the increasing needs of the school and provide the best facilities for the best student education possible.
Mary Help of Christians School has always been at the forefront of innovation when it comes to providing for its students. In fact, the Del Mar location was the first elementary school in all of South Texas to have a full classroom of computers and one of the first to have Internet access. With a continuing effort to give our students the best possible accommodations for their spiritual and educational journey, MHCS is expanding again with the Spirit of Laredo Capital Campaign.
